ADAS is the only tri-service Defense and Security Exhibition that comprehensively addresses the diverse requirements of the Department of National Defense (DND), the National Security Council (NSC), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), the Philippine National Police (PNP), as well as its many homeland security and crisis and disaster response agencies.

Decision makers from the DND, NSC, AFP, PNP and the Other Agencies will be maximizing the opportunity presented by the Show to evaluate their modernization and upgrading program requirements. Their regional counterparts from around the Asia Pacific will also be invited to attend.

MARKET POTENTIAL

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) is emerging from what has essentially been a lost decade in terms of modernization and procurement opportunities as defense and security policy had been focused for years on combatting insurgency.

Since 2010, the Philippine Government has taken concrete steps to boost the ability of the Armed Forces to secure the nation’s interests, primarily through a revised AFP Modernization Act introduced in December 2012 to procure urgently required equipment and infrastructural improvements. The commitment to national defense has never been stronger under the new administration of President Ferdinand R Marcos Jr.

DEMAND

Rapidly modernizing, the AFP has in recent years acquired new air, land, and sea platforms such as F/A-50 light attack jets, armoured personnel carriers and transport vehicles, and strategic sealift vessels. However, the AFP is still looking to further improve its capabilities with further acquisitions across the three services, with desired targets including multirole combat aircraft and helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles, light tanks, and even submarines.

Besides military modernization, there is also a significant demand in counter-terrorism, policing, and paramilitary equipment to address the ever-growing threats of transnational terrorism, as recently highlighted by the last Marawi crisis.

With its diverse geography, the Philippines is also prone to natural disasters and extreme weather, and therefore requires effective humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) equipment and techniques to respond to these contingencies.
